The shop@stanwick is celebrating winning the regional title in the Best Village Shop / Post Office Category in the fifth annual Countryside Alliance Awards.

The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate the characters, skills, traditions and enterprise of the countryside through the people who work so hard to make it tick.

Comments from the Countryside Alliance Judge, Tracey Casstles: -

Tracy says: “What was staggering from the moment I entered the shop was how incredibly busy they were and that every single customer was greeted by name. The three partners took over the shop only two years ago and have turned it into the heart of this community. At a time when Post Offices were fearing the worst Stanwick had another counter put in to cope with the demand. Stanwick now has a heart! The village is vibrant and alive and most of it is thanks to the hard work, creativity, inclusivity and warmth shown by the team at the Shop @ Stanwick. They are actively involved in village life, supporting the elderly, the children and all in between.

You are a Regional Finalist in

the 2009 Countryside Alliance Awards

Well done – you have been short listed for the Countryside Alliance Awards in the Village Shop category. Each year the quality and quantity of nominations increases and with over 2300 nominations received this year the competition was fierce, so well done for reaching the final for your region. You now have the chance of winning a national title! Regional judging will take place in late November and early December with regional winners being declared before Christmas.

Regional winners will go forward to the British final, and will be invited to the winners’ reception, to be held at the House of Lords in February 2010, to hear who has won overall.

We will update you on how we get on, keep your fingers crossed!

The Countryside Alliance Awards, now in their fifth year, are the Countryside Alliance’s celebration of communities, produce, enterprise and rural heritage. Voted for by public nomination, they applaud those who routinely go the extra mile for their community and help promote rural life.
